Subject: PegMedia Passes 10,000 Mark!
PegMedia last night downloaded show episode number 10,000 and kept on flying by. That represents 10,000 DVD’s that didn’t have to be burnt, put in envelopes and mailed.
But the 10,000 also represents the fact there is a strong interest by community stations in making their schedules more varied and interesting, and in potentially making a difference in the world with the content being presented, most of which is not available elsewhere. And for producers, it represents a potentially very wide audience for their productions, while at the same time freeing their time up to concentrate on the content instead of trying to contact hundreds of stations or burn and mail DVD’s.
Thank you all the stations and producers who have participated so far. The site has been up less than 4 months, and we’re almost at 500 stations and producers. Our initial goal was to be at 1,000 in the first year and we seem to be on the way there. You can help by putting out the word to other stations, producers and your state and national organizations. The more stations and producers we have, the more valuable the sharing is to all of us.

Kudos to all your hard work Bob. For many small centers striking a balance between localism and programs of local interest (like those found on PegMedia) is a front and center issue for the staff and board. Have you encountered this?
The truth is that the work of a site like PegMedia is helping to cultivate a truly alternative TV network that is non-commercial, locally relevant AND pretty damn interesting.
